The owners of South Wales Touring Park have raised £1,000 for an all-Wales Charity.
Brother and sister Hywel and Cathrin Davies, who run the touring park in Llangenech, chose the Wales Air Ambulance to benefit from unspent pennies that guests didn’t use from their electric hook.
This was the first year the touring park has raised funds for the Charity in this way, however they will be continuing to raise funds for the Wales Air Ambulance during the 2025 to 2026 season.
Upon arrival guests received a pre-paid electric card in their welcome pack. The inclusive credit is non-refundable to the guests and any un-used credit was automatically donated to the lifesaving Charity.
The touring park is situated close to the Charity’s headquarters in Dafen. Hywel said: “We wanted to raise money for the Wales Air Ambulance because we hear the air ambulance fly above our park often, and so it was the obvious choice.
“We are delighted that we have raised the £1,000 for the Wales Air Ambulance, all our guests were more than happy to donate and we hope to raise more for 2026.”
The Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.
It is delivered via a unique third sector and public sector partnership. The Wales Air Ambulance Charity relies on public donations to raise the £11.2 million required every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.
The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.
This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.
As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.
Hywel and his niece, Cari and nephew James recently visited the Charity’s headquarters for the cheque presentation.
Christian Sullivan, South Wales Regional Fundraising Manager for Wales Air Ambulance said:
“A huge thank you to everyone at South Wales Touring Park – Fferm Llwynifan Farm for raising much-needed funds for our lifesaving Charity. What a wonderful and unique way to support a charity. We really appreciate the support from the owners and holidaymakers who together raised a fantastic £1,000. We are delighted that the company will continue to raise funds for us during the next year. It was lovely to welcome Hywel, Cari and James to the Charity’s headquarters.”
