Every lifesaving donation you make to Wales Air Ambulance could go further at no extra cost to you. For every £1 that you donate we can reclaim 25p from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
How does it work?
Gift Aid is a government initiative that allows donations to charity to be tax effective. As soon as you complete a Gift Aid declaration form, we can claim the tax on your future donations, as well as any donations you have made in the last four years. This means that a £10 donation will be worth £12.50.
The good news is it’s quick and simple.
To complete your declaration online please complete the form below, or if you would prefer to download a copy please do so here. We can also post a form to you, simply contact enquiries@walesairambulance.com and request a Gift Aid form.
Gift Aid Form
Claiming Gift Aid on your pre-loved items
In additional to claiming Gift Aid on your monetary donations, we can claim 25% of the sale value of items that you donate to our charity shops. This requires a separate form but can be completed quickly and easily in our shops or online here.
Every year, £560 million is left unclaimed by UK charities. By registering to Gift Aid your donations, you will be saving even more lives across Wales.
The difference Gift Aid makes
By claiming Gift Aid on your donations, we can:
- Respond to emergencies 24/7. Our crews are on standby 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide lifesaving, advanced critical care across Wales.
- Deliver a pan-Wales Service. The dedicated crews will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.
- Deliver hospital-level care on scene. The highly skilled crew on board can carry out medical procedures which would usually only be available within a hospital setting.
- Keep our fleet operational. We need to raise £11.2 million every year to keep our helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.
- Reunite families. Every day that our patients spend with their loved ones is thanks to your support.
Gift Aid Eligibility
To claim Gift Aid, you must be eligible. Find out whether you can increase your donation here:
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for Gift Aid you must be a UK taxpayer and the Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax you pay must be at least equal to the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all of your donations in that tax year.
When might I not be eligible for Gift Aid?
If your donation falls into any of the following categories, Gift Aid cannot be claimed:
- Donations made by anyone who is not a UK taxpayer.
- Donations made on behalf of someone else of a group of people – for example, you collect money from your friends and family and combine it into one donation. Even if all of those who have donated are UK taxpayers, the donation is not eligible. HMRC requires a Gift Aid declaration from each donor, you can collate these by using our sponsorship form.
- Donations made in return for something, for example you are making a donation in return for a ticket to attend and event or entry to a raffle.
- Donations made on behalf of a company – you can only make Gift Aid declarations on your own taxpayer status when spending your own money. However, the company can claim tax relief on the donation when donating directly to the charity.
I made a donation of £20 and couldn’t believe how easy it was to increase that to £25 at no extra cost to me. Gift Aid is a really great way to make your donation go further.
If you’re eligible, do it – you won’t regret it!
