A popular Pembrokeshire tractor run has raised an amazing £5,000 for different causes.
The Welsh National Tractor Road Run (WNTRR) saw more than 260 tractors turned up for its 13th anniversary.
The causes to benefit from the tractor run were the Wales Air Ambulance, Cardigan First Responders and Crymych First Responders.
Every year the fundraiser is moved to a different part of Wales, and attracts participants from outside of Wales, including as far as Scotland.
The tractor run was under the leadership of Dai Rees, who formed a small committee of Alun Owens, Keith and Kevin Evans, Sion Morgan and Peter Lewis, as the North Pembrokeshire Tractor Enthusiasts.
The 35-mile route started on the south side of Glanrhyd at Awenfryn, by the kind permission of the Evans family. The route saw the tractors take in the lanes and villages of the North Pembrokeshire area of the Preselis.
Whilst taking in the spectacular coastal view, as well as the beautiful countryside, the tractors made their way to the lunch stop at Cwm Gwaun, at Penrallt Dduby, with the kind permission from the Davies family.
They then worked their way back northwards to the finish at Awenfryn.
The Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and, if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.
It is delivered via a unique third sector and public sector partnership. The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.
This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.
As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.
Moving to a different part of Wales every year, this year’s run was organised by the North Pembrokeshire Tractor Enthusiasts on behalf of WNTRR co-founders brother and sister, John and Anne Bates.
Anne said: “It’s great to see like-minded tractor enthusiasts coming together to show off their pride and joy, but also to make lifelong friends.”
Mike May, the Wales Air Ambulance’s Regional Fundraising Manager for west Wales, said: “We are very grateful our lifesaving service was chosen as one of the beneficiaries of this popular fundraising event. It is always lovely to see the farming community come together to support causes that mean a lot to them. They’ve once again raised an incredible amount for charity. Thank you to everyone who helped the event to be successful.
“The Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £11.2 million every year to keep our helicopters in the air and our rapid response vehicles on the road. Fundraising events will help us to continue to save lives across Wales.”
