Staff from ProStock Vets will swap the surgery for the summit as they take on the Welsh 3 Peaks in aid of two important charities.
The determined team will put on their hiking boots on Saturday, 18 July to raise funds for Wales Air Ambulance and DPJ Foundation.
This year ProStock Vets are celebrating 15 years and wanted to ‘challenge themselves’, whilst raising funds for the causes.
The Welsh 3 Peaks will see 18 of the team tackle the three highest peaks in Wales, Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), Cadair Idris, and Pen y Fan all in a single day.
Reflecting on why the challenge was chosen, Lee Farrar of ProStock Vets, said: “We wanted a challenge and we are a proud Welsh practice. The Welsh 3 Peaks seemed the ideal way to celebrate our 15-year anniversary and raise some sponsorship for in aid of two incredible charities who are both heavily involved in the farming and rural community in our corner of Wales.
“We will be waking up early to climb Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan; walking 17 miles with 2400m of elevation gain! We hope to be joined late in the day by a larger group from Prostock to cheer us on to the finish line and climb Pen y Fan with us.
“But, the real aim of the game is to raise a good amount of money to help support these two great causes which are very close to our hearts and have helped and supported many of our clients and friends over the years.”
ProStock Vets are no strangers to raising funds for the Wales Air Ambulance, they’ve previously donated an incredible 5,100 to the Charity through a series of different fundraising events and challenges.
Speaking of the importance of the two charities that the vets will raise funds for, Lee said: “The Wales Air Ambulance is crucial to rural communities, our farming clients and the general public across Wales, providing mobile emergency care in remote locations where access to hospitals can be challenging. I have seen firsthand the work of the air ambulance during an on-farm incident, and it was such a huge relief to see the helicopter touch down opposite the farm, well in advance of the ground response.
“The DPJ Foundation play a huge role in mental health support for our farming clients and have provided training to us as a practice in being able to support our farmers through difficult times.”
The Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.
It is delivered via a unique third sector and public sector partnership. The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.
This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.
As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.
ProStock Vets has branches in Carmarthen, Llangadog, Teifi, Lampeter and Whitland.
As well as the Carmarthen branch raising funds for the Wales Air Ambulance, in 2021 vet Cath Tudor set herself her own fundraising challenge when she completed an incredible 980-mile cycle challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats in aid of two charities.
Cath, from Carmarthenshire, raised £5,076 for the Wales Air Ambulance and £3,000 for The DPJ Foundation.

“Since 2016 ProStock Vets has raised over £5,000 for our Charity, which is incredible. ProStock Vets know the value of the Wales Air Ambulance to their clients and to themselves and have been big supporters of us.
“Our service is purely funded by charitable donations, and we need to raise £13 million every year to keep our helicopters in the air and our rapid response vehicles on the road. This fundraiser will help us reach this target. Good luck everyone!”
