Llangwyryfon Young Farmers Club and Cymdeithas Tabor raised £1,500 for the Wales Air Ambulance following its successful festive fundraiser.

During Christmas Llangwyryfon Young Farmers Club and Cymdeithas Tabor went around their local community – Llangwyryfon and surrounding areas, carol singing to raise the vital funds for the all-Wales Charity.

The Wales Air Ambulance Charity needs to raise £13 million every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.

Heulwen Evans, chair of Llangwyryfon Young Farmers Club, was delighted with the money they raised, she said: “Thank you to the kindness of the community we raised an amazing sum of £1,500 for the Wales Air Ambulance. The Charity provides an essential service that saves lives, especially in our rural areas.

“Since we raised the money, one of our neighbours had an accident, and the air ambulance rushed in to provide critical care, which prevented serious long-term injuries. This shows how important the service is; you never know who or when it will be needed next. Everyone is extremely grateful for the essential work of the Wales Air Ambulance.”

Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and, if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury. For the patient, this can mean hours saved when compared to standard care and is proven to greatly improve survival and early recovery.  It is delivered via a unique Third Sector and Public Sector partnership.

The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.

As a pan-Wales service, the dedicated air ambulance crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.

Emily Bell, Wales Air Ambulance’s Regional Fundraising Co-ordinator for the area, was invited to a cheque presentation at the Club’s annual dinner at Fantasy Farm.

Emily said: “It was lovely to meet members from Llangwyryfon Young Farmers Club and Cymdeithas Tabor during the cheque presentation. After fundraising for us one of the locals needed the help of the service, this shows how important our service is to the people of Wales. You never know when you or someone you know might need the Wales Air Ambulance.

“Llangwyryfon Young Farmers Club and Cymdeithas Tabor has raised an incredible amount for the Wales Air Ambulance. We are extremely grateful that our Charity was chosen to benefit from this fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who took part or donated to the cause. You have all played a part in saving more lives across Wales. Thank you for supporting our all-Wales Charity.”
