A father-of-two ran the Porthcawl 10k in memory of his wife to raise funds for the Charity that tried to save her life.
Michael Colley, from Cardiff, took part in the 10k in memory of Lindsay, who sadly passed away in October 2025.
Michael was joined by his three closest friends Andrew Jones, Jonathan Spiller and Gareth Wisdom who all ran the race for the Wales Air Ambulance in honour of Lindsay.
Michael, who had been married to Lindsay for 26 years and been together for 32 years, said: “My wife Lindsay was a wonderful person and was taken too early at the age of 53. She was a caring and beautiful person who was a great mother to Ellis and Dion and the most wonderful wife to me.
“We ran the Porthcawl 10k in Lindsay’s memory to raise funds for Wales Air Ambulance.
The air ambulance crew tried everything to save Lindsay. Unfortunately, it was too late and there was nothing that they could do. They were very comforting to myself and my boys and direct on telling me everything that was happening. It was the worst day of my life.”
After signing up for the 10k Michael set himself the fundraising target of £500 and smashed that figure by raising an incredible £1,300.
Reflecting on completing the challenge, Michael said: “It was my first time taking part in this race, and it was a fantastic, well-organised race with great support.
“It was very emotional when the four of us crossed the finishing line together. Thank you to everyone who donated. I was very pleased with the amount raised from our friends and family, all for Lindsay.”
The Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.
It is delivered via a unique third sector and public sector partnership. The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.
This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.
As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.

“It is heartwarming that, after losing Lindsay, Michael wanted to support our Charity in her honour, which is a lovely tribute to her.
“Thank you to everyone who supported Michael, Andrew, Jonathan and Gareth with this fundraiser. They’ve raised an incredible amount for the Charity.
“The Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £13 million every year to help keep our helicopters in the air and our rapid response vehicles on the road. These funds will help us to continue to be there for the people of Wales when they need us most.”
