A Pembrokeshire business has raised an incredible £3,500 for a lifesaving Welsh charity.
Jamangie Trading held its third annual golf charity day, which was once again a huge success.
The sun came out on the day, which saw 32 teams of four take to the course.
This year the Wales Air ambulance was chosen as the charity to benefit from the fundraising due to personal reasons. Jamie Dougan’s niece needed the help of the lifesaving charity last year and was flown to hospital in Cardiff.
Jamie Dougan said: “We like to support local charities, but also felt that the Wales Air Ambulance is relied on a lot more these days and funding this vital cause is something we wanted to do. Our niece was involved in an incident and was conveyed to hospital by Air Ambulance, so this was another reason why we wanted to choose the service.”
The Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.
It is delivered via a unique third sector and public sector partnership. The Wales Air Ambulance Charity relies on public donations to raise the £11.2 million required every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.
The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.
This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.
As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.
Jamie said: “This is the third golf day we have held. Each raising more money than the previous one. The bar is now set pretty high for next year!
“As always, it was well supported by our main sponsor, Bond It, other suppliers, customers, and other local businesses. We try to keep the event as affordable as possible to get maximum participation and to try and raise as much as we can for our nominated charity.
“My assistant Rob does the majority of the organising for the event, and he unfortunately suffered a major stroke this year, which saw him off work indefinitely. During his recouperation, he carried on working on the golf day, and in fact the day itself was the first full day’s “work” he had done since his stroke. Thankfully, being well organised, he had done most of the organisational work before this happened, but its continued success is testament to his efforts.”
Jamangie Trading is a family owned and run Builders Hardware & DIY Warehouse based in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.
Mike May, West Wales Regional Fundraising Manager for Wales Air Ambulance said: “Jamangie Trading has raised an incredible amount for our Charity, which we’re extremely grateful for. Their annual charity golf day sounded like a wonderful day. To raise £3,500 in one day is amazing.
“A huge shout out to Rob, who went above and beyond to make sure this day was a success, despite recovering from his stroke. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed. We really appreciate your dedication.
“The Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £11.2 million every year. Jamangie Trading will help us to continue to be there for the people of Wales when they need us most. Thank you so much to everyone who played a part in this fundraiser.”
