Heidelberg Materials UK has once again raised an incredible amount for an all-Wales Charity.

The company, which is based in Padeswood, Mold, recently donated £3,000 to the Wales Air Ambulance following a successful Christmas Raffle fundraiser.

Heidelberg Materials UK has been supporting the Charity since 2014 and to date has raised an amazing £15,600.

The employees often get involved with different campaigns that the Wales Air Ambulance have running. The employees applied for Match Funding from the company’s head office; this added an extra £2,000 of donations to the Cause.

Dereth Holland organised the successful raffle with the donated prizes and tickets were sold to employees and contractors onsite.

Some of the prizes included a 43” TV, £100 Amazon voucher, theatre tickets, Ninja dual air fryer, art sets, hampers, coffee maker and Regatta jackets.

Reflecting on the money they’ve raised for the Wales Air Ambulance, Dereth, said: “The £15,600 we’ve raised is fantastic, especially for such a worthwhile cause.

“It is a vital service that I believe we cannot do without and it has helped so many people and saved lives. I feel the charity should have more government backing with funds to support the valuable service it offers in the community.”

The Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and, if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.

It is delivered via a unique third sector and public sector partnership. The Wales Air Ambulance Charity relies on public donations to raise the £13 million required every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.

The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.

This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.

As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.

Debra Sima, Wales Air Ambulance Regional Fundraising Manager for North East Wales, said: “We are so grateful to everyone at Heidelberg Materials UK for continuing to support our lifesaving service. The raffle had wonderful prizes and was a huge success. To date the company has raised an incredible £15,600 since 2014.

“We rely on our supporters to help us to keep our helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road. Fundraisers, like this one, will help us to continue to be there for the people of Wales when they need us the most. Thank you so much. We really appreciate your support.”
