Pontfaen Young Farmers raised an incredible £8,000 for two Welsh charities.

Wales Air Ambulance was delighted to be one of the charities to benefit from their annual tractor run, which has raised more than £25,000 for worthy causes during the past four years. The money raised was split equally between the lifesaving charity and Brecon Mountain Rescue.

The tractor run brought festive cheer and community spirit to Brecon while raising funds for the two vital charities.

Grateful Ann Payne, Volunteer for the Wales Air Ambulance, was presented with the funds during a recent cheque presentation at the club’s annual concert at Brecon High School.

The popular event was compered by Elin Havard from Sennybridge YFC.

During the presentation Ann Payne ‘expressed her heartfelt thanks, commending the club for their efforts and wishing them all the best for future endeavours’.

The Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.

It is delivered via a unique Third Sector and Public Sector partnership. The Wales Air Ambulance Charity relies on public donations to raise the £11.2 million required every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.

The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.

This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.

As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.

Kate Thomas, Wales Air Ambulance’s Regional Fundraising Manager for Powys, said: “A huge thank you to Pontfaen YFC, who have dedicated so much time and effort in insuring that the annual tractor run is a huge success and is enjoyed by people of all ages, in the community. Every year they raise an incredible amount for vital causes, once again the Wales Air Ambulance is honoured to be one of the charities chosen to benefit from their fundraising. The £4,000 raised will help us continue to be there for the people of Wales 24/7. We really appreciate the continued support the club gives to our lifesaving charity.”

Club chairwoman Sian Healey thanked everyone involved in making the tractor run a huge success, from sponsors and tractor drivers to supporters, stewards, and McCartneys for the use of the market to kick off the event.

Special thanks were given to Brecon Town Council for donating funds to purchase selection boxes, so every child received a gift from Santa.

Ponfaen YFC thanked Erwood, Sennybridge, and Troedrhiwdalar YFCs for their One Plus contributions, and extended their gratitude to Brecon High School for providing the venue.
