A passionate young farmers leader who is currently undertaking a monthly year-long endurance fundraiser for two good causes, plans to climb Pen y Fan ten times in 24 hours!

Caroline Frampton, leader of Pontfaen YFC has already completed a number of epic challenges in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance and Brecon Mountain Rescue Team.

The Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £11.2 million every ensure to keep its helicopters in the air and its rapid response vehicles on the road.

Her challenges for the Wales Air Ambulance so far have included the Cardiff Half Marathon, Cardiff 5k Santa Dash and Brecon to Cardiff Ultra.

A determined Caroline said: “Living in a rural area, we all know how crucial the work of Wales Air Ambulance and Brecon Mountain Rescue is. Their teams save lives, and I wanted to do something meaningful to give back.”

The Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.

It is delivered via a unique Third Sector and Public Sector partnership. The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.

This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.

As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.

Caroline has a number of fundraisers to complete before her Pen y Fan challenge, these are; Canum 40-mile ultra trail along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, from Newport to Brecon, Wales Millennium Trail (a 36-mile cycle), 5k Parkrun every day for a month and Pigum 30 miles – a circular route around the mountain peaks and trails of Abergavenny.

Kate Thomas, Wales Air Ambulance’s Regional Fundraising Manager for mid Wales said: “Caroline is an inspiration, she has set herself challenges that most people would shy away from. She will be climbing Pen y Fan ten times in 24 hours, which is incredible.

“The Charity is delighted that she has chosen the Wales Air Ambulance as one of the charities to benefit from her year-long fundraising. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Caroline for raising funds for two important charities and we wish her well with the rest of her fundraising. The Wales Air Ambulance appreciates your continued support.”
