What Is a Post-Mortem?
A post-mortem (also called an autopsy) is a medical check to find out the cause of death. Sometimes the coroner requires it. It is done with dignity and care.
You will be kept informed, though results can take time. You may receive initial findings, followed later by a full report. This waiting period can be difficult, and it’s okay to seek emotional support during this time.
Afterwards, the coroner will let you know when you can begin funeral planning.
