The Rotary Club of Aberystwyth raised £1,160 after hosting a successful Bollywood Charity event in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance.
More than 80 people attended the popular event at Bow Street Hall, which featured generously donated raffle prizes and donations to the fundraiser.
The Rotary Club of Aberystwyth, which established in 1948, is one of the largest and most successful Rotary Clubs in Wales. The Club has over 30 active members and has a proud record of supporting many charitable causes at home and globally.
John Harries, Chair of Rotary Club of Aberystwyth, was delighted with the turnout for her event. He said: “The Bollywood evening was a new venture for the Club. It proved to be a resounding success, thanks in particular to Rotarian Ramesh Khouju who led on its organisation.
“One of the main aims of the Club is to support worthwhile causes in the local area as well as internationally. Given our location in mid Wales, the local community is especially reliant on the services of Wales Air Ambulance for medical emergencies.
“The Rotary Club is delighted that the event raised £1,160, which was all donated to Wales Air Ambulance.”
The Wales Air Ambulance service is a consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatment to patients and, if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury. It is delivered through a unique partnership between the third sector and public sector.
The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.
This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.
As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.
Emily Bell, Wales Air Ambulance’s Regional Fundraising Manager for the area gave a talk during the evening on the importance of the Wales Air Ambulance.
Following the event, Emily visited the Club where she was presented with the cheque.
Emily said: “A huge thank you to the rotary club for organising a wonderful Bollywood evening in aid of our Charity. The evening was a huge success and raised an amazing £1,160 for our all-Wales Charity. We really appreciate the Club’s support.
“The Wales Air Ambulance relies on public donations to raise £13 million every year to keep our helicopters in the air and our rapid response vehicles on the road. Fundraisers, like this, will help us to continue to be there for the people of Wales when they need us most. Everyone who took part or donated will help us save more lives across Wales.
