- No charge for the Villa but we ask family/friends to give the staff a minimum tip that is equivalent to the service charge they would get if it was a commercial booking i.e. 5% of the website price.
- We don’t have a full-time chef on staff. They can be hired on a day rate – either for the whole duration of your trip or for odd days. (Let us know if you want to arrange before you leave). Cost approx. £25 per day. If up to 4 of you staying, then core team can make breakfast for you – more than that probably need a chef. Staff will buy food and drinks for you and bill you at the end of your trip.
- Transfers and other transport on your own account – we can help with contacts .
- Compulsory pre-trip drinks at Kiln House for briefing on good restaurants, massages, other things to do etc .

The Commission of a Monotype or Aluminium Portrait of One or Two People, by Sky Portrait Artist of the Year 2025, Chloe Barnes
Offered exclusively for our special event, this is a truly personal and exceptional auction item.
In 2025, Chloe Barnes, who has Welsh roots, won the Sky Portrait Artist of the Year, becoming the first printmaker to receive the award. Impressing the judges with her monoprinting practice, her success led to a commissioned portrait of mathematician and broadcaster Professor Hannah Fry for the Royal Society.
During the competition, London-based Chloe created striking portraits of Clara Amfo and Mary Berry using etching ink on aluminium, as well as a monotype of actor Brian Cox. She demonstrated her distinctive style and expressive mark-making to produce emotionally resonant portraits.
Her work has been exhibited at the Royal Society, the Royal Scottish Academy, and the Royal Society of British Artists Bicentennial Exhibition.
The successful bidder will receive a bespoke portrait commission of one person, or up to two people (maximum). They may choose either a monotype, or a painting on aluminium. The maximum portrait size is 60 x 80 cm.

- An initial video consultation.
- One in-person meeting for studies and photographic reference gathering (subject to reasonable travel distance from Cardiff or London). If location or scheduling presents difficulties, Chloe can work from high-quality photographic references supplied by the commissioner.
- The commissioner will have the opportunity to review the portrait during its development and may request one reasonable revision.
- Timescales are to be discussed directly with Chloe.
- The first £500 of the winning bid will cover the artist’s costs for materials and travel associated with the commission.
