Our volunteers are an integral part of the Wales Air Ambulance; they provide additional knowledge, skills and ongoing help that supports the Charity across our functions, whether attending fundraising events in the community, helping in our shops or acting as Trustees.

We would not be able to provide our lifesaving services without our volunteers and we trust that you will enjoy your time with us in whatever capacity that you can help with.

Think you can’t afford to volunteer? Think again.

We’re all facing incredibly tough times. The cost of living crisis is squeezing our income, food prices, fuel costs and much more. Now is not the time to incur extra costs.

But if you’re the type of person who likes to volunteer because you have a social conscience; you like to help others or simply fancy getting out of the house and meeting new people it creates a dilemma.

You may want to be a volunteer, but your budget is so squeezed it has no room for more travel or lunch costs.

Fear not. Here at Wales Air Ambulance we totally value our volunteers. While we are extremely grateful to our volunteer force for giving their time for free we understand they should not be out of pocket.

That is why we offer the following *:

  • For those who use public transport, one standard class return journey per day for each day of attendance
  • Mileage equivalent to one return journey per day of attendance
  • Parking fees paid on production of valid ticket
  • On production of a receipt, a lunch allowance of maximum £3.50 per day for volunteers working more than six hours

There may be many reasons volunteering isn’t right for you just now, but cost should not be one of them.
