How can I thank the crew? Expand The crew love to hear how a patient is getting on or if they made a difference to the family. You can send them a message of thanks by completing this form. It can also be possible to set up a virtual meeting to thank them. Base visits can also be arranged but are currently on hold due to the pandemic.
It’s been a long time since the incident happened, can I still get information and support? Expand Yes. Our Aftercare service is available to provide you with the information and support you need, at a time when you feel you are ready.
If there was no helicopter, does that mean that I wasn’t treated by the Wales Air Ambulance Team? Expand No. Our Critical Care Teams have access to a fleet of Rapid Response Vehicles which are used when the weather is unsuitable for flying or most commonly in urban areas where there are less landing sites. The RRV’s are red Audi Q7’s and Volvo XC90’s with a green and yellow battenburg pattern on the side. Our teams can be identified by red flight suits.
Why was I not taken to my local hospital after my accident? Expand Some injuries require specialist teams and interventions which are located at Regional Centres. Once the specialist treatment has been given, you may be transferred back to your local hospital if you need ongoing rehabilitation or further routine medical treatment.
I don’t remember much about what happened. Can you help me fill in the gaps? Expand It’s common for patients to have gaps in their memory and this can be due to the serious nature of the illness or injury, or because of the medication given at the scene. Our Patient Liaison Nurses can help fill in the gaps and this is often an important part of a patient’s recovery. Click here to send a message to our Patient Liaison Nurses.
