Determined staff from a Morrisons supermarket in Caernarfon braved the treacherous weather as they climbed Snowdon in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance.

Their efforts saw them raise a fantastic £811, which was matched by Morrisons Foundation, enabling the Charity to receive a cash boost of £1,623.

Allison Williams and Maxine Legett were joined by their colleagues from the Morrisons store to take on the challenge, which saw them braving the adverse weather and wet downpours.

Allison, added: “We chose the Wales Air Ambulance Charity as it is close to many local people’s hearts. The charity provides such a great service, all for free and rely entirely on charitable donations to ensure they can continue to provide emergency medical care to injured people in rural areas throughout Wales.

“Although it was hard going at times and the weather was bad, with poor visibility, we thoroughly enjoyed doing the walk up Snowdon. Knowing we were doing it for such a great cause and that every pound we raised would be matched by the Foundation gave us the motivation to rise to the challenge”.

The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives and matches the funds raised by colleagues for their chosen charities.

Since launching, over £34 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.

Wales Air Ambulance offers advanced critical care and is often described as a ‘Flying ED’. The on-board consultants and critical care practitioners are highly skilled and carry some of the most pioneering medical equipment in the world. They can deliver blood transfusions, administer anaesthesia and undertake emergency operations at the scene of the incident, before flying the patient directly to specialist care.

Every donation to the Charity helps our medics be there for the people of Wales when they us most.”
