Will volunteering affect my benefits? Expand For many people volunteering is a great way to learn new skills and experience or wish to add to your CV, especially if you are looking for employment. Volunteering will not affect your Jobseeker's Allowance as long as you are looking for work.
Will I need a Disclosure and Barring Service Check? Expand Some volunteering roles may require a DBS check.
Will I be reimbursed for expenses? Expand Our volunteers are unpaid; however, we will reimburse our volunteers for travel and subsistence expenses as detailed in the volunteering policy.
Will I receive training? Expand You will be provided with an induction and training programme for your role and you will be invited to attend a Corporate Induction which may include a visit to one of our airbases.
How much time do I need to give? Expand That is completely your choice. Whether you wish to do one hour a week at an event, or twenty hours a week in one of our charity shops we are grateful for any help you can give. We will do our best to make it enjoyable and rewarding.
How old do I need to be to become a volunteer? Expand In order to become a volunteer with us, you must be a minimum age of 18 years old.
Do I need experience? Expand Each role has a specific role outline which details the skills and experience needed. Whether you have experience or not we always aim to find a volunteer role that is right for you. As long as you're enthusiastic, and have a willingness to support us we would love to have you on board.
Why should I volunteer for Wales Air Ambulance? Expand There are plenty of reasons why people choose to volunteer for us. The majority of our volunteers join us because they have been affected by our charity, and know of somebody who needed our help, so they want to give something back. Others want to meet new people, gain new skills and experience, and to support their local community. No matter what the reason is, we would love you to join our team!
I have a disability, can I still volunteer? Expand Yes, there is a role for everyone at WAA. We would like to hear from anyone interested in volunteering with us, including if you are living with a disability.
If I start a role but don't like it, can I change roles? Expand Certainly, if you want to try something different email our volunteer coordinator who can discuss other options with you - [email protected].
Can I volunteer with a friend? Expand This is a possibility. Provided that there is a suitable role for both of you, and that both of your applications were successful.
Can I apply for multiple roles? Expand Absolutely. You can apply for multiple roles and partake in different types or volunteering, for example, volunteering in one of our shops and attending bucket collections.
What if I have a criminal conviction? Expand All applications will be considered. You must disclose if you have any unspent criminal convictions, however, this will not necessarily prevent you from volunteering for us.
Do I need references? Expand Yes, when you are completing your application we will ask you to provide details of two referees. They must be at least 18 years old and not a relative of yours. Each referee should be willing to provide us with a reference and know that we may contact them.
