Young Farmers Sing to Raise Funds for Charity Talented young farmers have joined together virtually to create a video of them singing to highlight the key ‘stay home and save lives’ message. Around 20 members from Brecknock Young Farmers Club (YFC) recorded themselves singing during lockdown. They produced the video to put a smile on people’s faces during these difficult times, whilst raising funds for the Wales Air Ambulance. Currently, the song has been a huge success with over 14,000 views and £200 raised so far. Reflecting on why the Charity was chosen, Mark Williams, a past member of Sennybridge YFC, said: “During these uncertain times a lot of charities are struggling, and we wanted to help in any way we can. Wales Air Ambulance is so important to the rural community and you never know if you need to call on the service, which some farmers have done in the past. “By creating the video, we wanted to give people something to smile about. It was also a great way to raise money for a charity and share an important message to stay home and to stay safe.” Speaking about the public response, Mark said: “We have been overwhelmed with all the kind messages about YFC and the hard work they all put in. We are so pleased that people have been able to donate to a fantastic charity. We hope the Facebook post, along with the fundraising link, can be shared far and wide to reach more people. “Also, we thank the keyworkers including NHS staff, carers, emergency services and farmers for keeping this country going and for ensuring that everyone stays safe. We wanted to send a message that we are all in this together.” Mark Stevens, the Charity’s Fundraising Manager, said: “We receive incredible support from our rural communities, in particular YFCs across Wales. Like our medics, farmers are a vital part of our country’s response to the pandemic. Throughout the past few months, they have continued their work to ensure that we have all the essential resources we need. “On behalf of the Charity, I would like to say congratulations to the members of Brecknock YFC for producing such a wonderful video and I thank them for raising important funds for our lifesaving service.” Many Brecknock YFC members have been busy helping their communities during lockdown, by shopping and picking up prescriptions for the vulnerable and elderly.
