A group of walkers from Coed Helen Caravan Park have put on their walking shoes once again to raise funds for charity.

For many years Coed Helen Walkers have been fundraising for various local charities, and every other year they fundraise in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance.

The children and adults had a very pleasant walk on the Aberffraw Heritage Trail and raised an impressive £852 for the lifesaving charity.

Wales Air Ambulance offers advanced critical care and is often described as a ‘Flying ED’. The on-board consultants and critical care practitioners are highly skilled and carry some of the most pioneering medical equipment in the world. They can deliver blood transfusions, administer anaesthesia and undertake emergency operations at the scene of the incident, before flying the patient directly to specialist care. 

John Brumfitt who owns a chalet at the holiday park based in Caernarfon, said: “We see the air Ambulance frequently flying over our caravan park en-route to their next call out or returning from Bangor Hospital to Caernarfon Airport, and appreciate the hazardous work that they skill fully undertake.”

Wales Air Ambulance has four aircraft based across Wales, in Dafen, Caernarfon, Welshpool and Cardiff. 

Now operational 24/7, the Charity needs to raise £8 million every year to keep the helicopters flying.  

Like John many of his friends own chalets at Coed Helen Caravan Park and over 50 walkers were eager to take part in the fundraiser.

John is delighted with the support that the walkers had, he added: “Special thanks to St. David’s Leisure for their help in organising our event and for their generous donations, also to Molly’s Restaurant on Coed Helen Caravan Park for the meals supplied to the walkers after the walk.”

Alwyn Jones, Community Fundraiser for the Wales Air Ambulance, said: “I was delighted to hear that Coed Helen Walkers were fundraising for the Wales Air Ambulance once again, especially during our 20^th anniversary.

“Over 50 people and their dogs took part in the charity walk and raised an amazing amount for our lifesaving service. The money raised will go towards helping us be there for more people in Wales when they need us. Thank you to everyone who supported Coed Helen Walkers and donated to the fundraiser.
