A biking group from North Wales have raised over £3,000 for Wales Air Ambulance after tackling a Wales-wide cycle.

The beardy bikers from Anglesey set themselves the challenge of tackling the ‘Lon Las Cymru’ cycling route, totalling an eyewatering 240 miles.

The route, which saw the group of five start in Holyhead on Sunday 3 July, took them through winding Welsh countryside before reaching their destination in the Welsh capital on Thursday 7 July.

Group member David Roberts said: “As most moments of madness go, we decided in the pub one night to set ourselves the challenge of cycling from North to South. From having personal experience of Wales Air Ambulance, we all decided that any money raised would go to this worthy cause.”

The group, who completed the challenge in a respectable four days, raised an incredible £3,020 for the helicopter charity.

David added: “I’m pleased to report that we also managed to complete the entire adventure with only one puncture along the way.”

Wales Air Ambulance Fundraising Manager, Lynne Garlick said: “We would like to thank the Beardy Bikers for their efforts and wish them many congratulations on completing this difficult cycling challenge. Their donation will help us continue our lifesaving work across Wales.”
