What does the communications team do? The role of the Communications Team is to build and maintain the Charity's reputation, both internally and externally with employees, stakeholders and supporters. The team works closely with other departments within the Charity to ensure it understands the dynamics of each individual team.
Functions of the Communications Team include:
Designing and producing high quality content such as audiovisual, photography, graphic design and copy for different mediums and platforms such as social media, print, online, the press and media.
Being responsible for the Charity's brand and ensuring the brand is current, reflects the Charity's values and mission, and is consistent across the organisation.
Creating and managing marketing materials for specific campaigns and events.
Handling crisis communications when an event or act threatens the Charity's reputation.
Finding opportunities to promote the Charity whether in print, on TV or online.
Creating and implementing communications plans, often in conjunction with other departments.
Overseeing internal company communications.
Understanding other departments and providing communications resources to facilitate their individual role.
Creating and implementing strategies and initiatives that aim to raise awareness of the organisation and building trust both internally and externally.
Creating engaging content and managing the intranet, website and social media channels, including posting regular updates and engaging with people via social media and keeping the intranet and website up to date.
Overseeing media relations, including writing and distributing news releases and responding to media enquiries in a timely manner.
Acting as an advisor for project managers to ensure their projects align with the strategic objectives of the organisation.

Steve oversees and is responsible for implementing the Charity's communications strategy. The role includes creating and implementing strategies and initiatives that aim to raise awareness of the organisation and building trust both internally and externally. Steve is also responsible for adopting positive relationships with Charity partners and stakeholders.
Laura Slate
Communications and Engagement Manager
Laura leads and manages the day-to-day delivery of communications and engagement activities, internally and externally. Core responsibilities include managing the Communications Team to produce high-quality and timely content, ensuring stakeholders have the opportunity to receive news, updates and key messages and supporting other departments with their campaigns and events.
Lauren Burden
Creative Digital Designer
Lauren is responsible for creating visual communications for both internal and external audiences. Core tasks include designing and producing a wide range of visual materials, developing concepts for specific campaigns and events and ensuring that all designs align with the Charity's brand.
Victoria Pearson
Digital Communications Officer
Vicky is responsible for creating engaging content and using digital communications channels to raise our Charity's profile and promote our key messages both internally and externally via a range of different mediums, such as the website, social media and the intranet.
Ewan Watkins
Multimedia Officer
Ewan supports the Charity's communications function, contributing to building our reputation and raising awareness of the Charity both internally and externally. Core tasks include graphic and digital design, video production and photography for a range of different mediums and platforms.
Lisa Wilson
Communications Officer
Lisa supports the service's communications, ensuring that key messages about the Charity are communicated persuasively and coherently to a range of stakeholders. This involves writing and distributing press releases and producing copy for the Charity's internal and external newsletter.
