Welshpool Golf Club will be hosting a fundraiser in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance to mark the Charity’s 21st birthday.

The golf competition will take place on Saturday 11 June and competitors will be treated to bacon rolls and coffee on arrival and a two-course meal will take place after the competitions. Followed by an evening event.

There will be multiple winners on the day with lots of different prizes and opportunities to win prizes.

Tee times will be available from 8am to 2:30pm and all players must have a current handicap index. However, you can enter without, but you won’t be able to win the main prizes of the day.

The Wales Air Ambulance celebrated its 21st anniversary on St David’s Day – 1 March.

Captain for the year, Dan Shepherd, who is organising the charity golf competition, said: “We at Welshpool golf club are very high up and felt that any need for emergency services may prove difficult to get to us so wanted to help the air ambulance in raising funds as in turn it could be beneficial to one or more of our golf club members and visitors. The Wales Air Ambulance service is massively important in the area we live in.”

This won’t be the first time Welshpool Golf Club has previously raised much-needed funds for the lifesaving Charity. The day will consist of teams of four at a price of £120 per team.

Wales Air Ambulance offers advanced critical care and is often described as a ‘Flying ED’. The on-board consultants and critical care practitioners are highly skilled and carry some of the most pioneering medical equipment in the world. They can deliver blood transfusions, administer anaesthesia, and undertake emergency operations at the scene of the incident, before flying the patient directly to specialist care.

Now operational 24/7, the Charity needs to raise £8 million every year to keep the helicopters flying.

Dougie Bancroft, Wales Air Ambulance’s community fundraiser, said: “A huge thank you to Dan and everyone at Welshpool Golf Club for hosting an event to raise funds for our lifesaving charity, especially in our 21st birthday year. The Wales Air Ambulance is essential in our country, especially in rural areas. The golf day sounds like a wonderful day out for any golfer, and we hope people show their support to the Charity and Welshpool Golf Club by signing up to the competition. Dan has been working extremely hard to organise the fundraising event – thank you.

“Events like this one will help our medics continue to be there for the people of Wales 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
