A North Wales artist has teamed up with the Wales Air Ambulance to raise funds for the much-loved charity.

Jocelyn Roberts will generously donate all proceeds from the sale of an original painting of the Wales Air Ambulance building in Caernarfon to the charity. The painting features in Jocelyn’s forthcoming exhibition, Steps to Segontium, which opens at the Life: Full Colour gallery in Caernarfon on 7 August.

Jocelyn Roberts said, “I’ve fallen in love with Caernarfon while painting its fantastic buildings and locations, getting to know the locals and what makes this town so special.

“I wanted to give something back to the community, so I decided to donate the proceeds from the sale of the painting to the Wales Air Ambulance. Emergency services like this are essential to the town and remote communities in North Wales.”

The Life: Full Colour gallery has also waived its commission on the painting.  Sara McKee, Life: Full Colour founder and owner, said: “Help us support this fabulous charity by raising as much money as possible through the sale of Jocelyn’s painting. You’ll get a wonderful piece of original artwork by a talented local artist while helping a vital service at the same time.”

Wales Air Ambulance is an all-Wales charity providing emergency air cover 365 days a year for those who face life-threatening illness or injury.

The charity needs to raise £8 million every year to keep the helicopters in the air 24/7.  Fundraising efforts like this one helps it to continue to provide its life-saving services.

Alwyn Jones, Community Fundraising Co-ordinator for Wales Air Ambulance, added: “A huge heartfelt thank you to Jocelyn for her very kind gesture. Our gratitude also to the Life: Full Colour gallery in Caernarfon for waving the commission fee, pending the sale of the painting. I'd like to wish Jocelyn the very best for the forthcoming exhibition, which I'm sure will be well worth a visit.”

The painting is on show now at Life: Full Colour gallery and will be one of the star attractions in Jocelyn’s solo exhibition, Steps to Segontium which runs from 7 August to 18 September. The exhibition includes more than 40 paintings featuring Caernarfon’s buildings and locations such as Bonta Deli, the old foundry and the show’s namesake Segontium Terrace. Jocelyn has also included still-life paintings of objects like a fork from the chippy and the harbour master’s phone for added texture and insight into Caernarfon life.
