What we do News All News Help us continue our life-saving work by joining the 2.6 challenge! Wednesday 22 April 2020 Like many other charities across the UK, the Covid-19 pandemic has had a huge effect on the Wales Air Ambulance with a substantial loss of income through our fundraising events and activities being cancelled or postponed. The Virgin Money London Marathon alone, which should have taken place this month, is the world’s biggest one-day fundraising event and raised more than £66.4 million for thousands of charities in 2019. Luckily you can still do your bit to help us continue our lifesaving work - by joining the national 2.6 challenge from Sunday, 26 April 2020 – the date on which the marathon should have been held. The 2.6 Challenge can be anything that works for you. You can run or walk 2.6 miles, 2.6km or for 26 minutes. You could do the same in your home or garden, go up and down the stairs 26 times, juggle for 2.6 minutes, do a 26 minute exercise class or get 26 people on a video call and do a 26 minute workout – anything you like. Mark Stevens, South and Mid Wales, Fundraising Manager from the Wales Air Ambulance, said “This event could be a game changer in the current climate as money raised for our Charity keeps our helicopters in the air and enables our skilled medics to respond to life-threatening emergencies. You can do this challenge at your own pace and in your own house or garden – it is open to everyone. All we ask is that you donate £26 to our challenge page, if you can get involved and give it a go.” If this sounds like something you’d like to get involved with, you can find out more information here.
