College students took on a fancy dress dog walk to raise lifesaving donations to fund helicopter missions across Wales.

Animal Studies students from Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor Glynllifon raised over £200 for Wales Air Ambulance by hosting a sponsored dog walk in aid of the helicopter charity.

The North Wales students wore fancy dress and walked six miles, collecting sponsorship from family and friends to help the charity fund its missions.

The sponsored dog walk raised £287.93 for Wales Air Ambulance, helping the charity raise the £6.5million needed every year to fund its operations.

Each of Wales Air Ambulance’s missions costs around £1,500, and the donations raised by the Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor Glynllifon students will go towards completing a helicopter mission.

Kevin Morris, Wales Air Ambulance Fundraising Coordinator, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the Animal Studies students from Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor Glynllifon, as their support helps to keep our four helicopters flying across Wales.

“As a charity, we rely on kind support to fund our operations across Wales. Through the support we have received, we have been able to grow and expand since we launched on St David’s Day in 2001.

“We started as a one helicopter service and we have grown into a four-helicopter operation, and have completed over 26,000 missions, all due to the support we receive from the people of Wales.”
