Ella Banks (age 7) wanted to do something positive for the Wales Air Ambulance.

On August 22nd 2017 Ella’s grandad suffered a severe head injury following a fall. The Wales Air Ambulance crew were called to assist paramedics who were attending Ella’s 81 year old grandfather.

The air ambulance air lifted the gentleman to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. Despite valiant effort by the paramedics, the air ambulance team and the medical staff at the Queen Elizabeth, nothing could be done to save this gentleman.

Ella witnessed the efforts of the paramedics and air ambulance medics and decided she wanted to say thank you for the air crew and paramedics who tried so desperately to save her grandfather.

She decided to do a cake sale at the Bishops Castle Michaelmas Fair to raise money. Ella sold homemade cakes, jams and chutneys along with having a tombola. With a little help and some donations from family and friends she has raised £1061.93. All proceeds from the stall have been given to the Wales Air Ambulance.

Ella is now keen to do more fundraising for the Wales Air Ambulance and wants to organise a concert showcasing local musicians and ensembles.
