Wales Air Ambulance statement

Wales Air Ambulance is the official air ambulance service for Wales. We’re on standby every single day of the year, ready to help anyone in Wales during their most difficult hour. The charity also runs the Children’s Wales Air Ambulance, a specialist division for our youngest patients.

We’ve recently received enquiries from members of the public about a charity called the ‘County Air Ambulance’ from England, which has been fundraising in Wales.

This is a registered charity based in Walsall, which also uses the name ‘HELP (Helicopter Emergency Landing Pads) Appeal’. The ‘County Air Ambulance’ does not own or operate any air ambulance helicopters. They fundraise for helicopter landing sites.

We want to clarify to all our supporters that Wales Air Ambulance is in no way connected to this charity. Some of their marketing materials include images of helicopters. These are not our helicopters, our operation here in Wales does not work with the ‘County Air Ambulance’ and we receive no funding from them. We have never worked with this charity on the establishment or build of helicopter landing sites in Wales.

All our materials are bilingual and clearly branded Wales Air Ambulance in red and green.

We’re proud to be the only air ambulance charity based in and dedicated to Wales. Our helicopters in Caernarfon, Welshpool, Llanelli and Cardiff have responded to more than 28,000 missions since we launched on St David’s Day 2001. As healthcare is devolved from England, we work closely with NHS Wales to treat and transfer patients.

Wales Air Ambulance occasionally canvasses to promote our Lifesaving Lottery. Our teams always wear Wales Air Ambulance-branded red jackets and carry ID. They are highly trained and follow a strict, ethical code of conduct. Our registered charity number is 1083645.
