A Swansea fundraising event has raised a considerable amount of money for Wales Air Ambulance.

The Peaky Blinders evening held at the Dragon Hotel raised an incredible £3,700 for the helicopter charity.

The event which proved a hit locally was the brainchild of Liam Todd who decided to raise money for Wales Air Ambulance after they assisted a member of his family: “After a close relative of mine was airlifted by the charity a couple of years ago, I found myself wanting to say thank you to them in some way. I got chatting to a member of the fundraising team in Dafen and he gave me the idea of a themed event.

“Following the popularity of the BBC TV Show, Peaky Blinders, we decided to follow that theme. The event was well attended, and I would like to thank everyone for their efforts in making the event so successful.”

Wales Air Ambulance Fundraising Coordinator Steffan Anderson-Thomas said: “We are extremely grateful for Liam’s hard work and determination to raise such a fantastic amount for our charity. With support from people like Liam, we are able to keep our four helicopters flying for the people of Wales, 365 days a year.”

Liam and his partner recently visited the charity’s Headquarters in Llanelli to present the cheque to Critical Care Practitioner, Ben Seabourne.

Steffan added: “If anyone has taken inspiration from Liam’s success, we would encourage you to get in touch with the fundraising team to discuss your ideas with us further.”
