Farmers’ Union of Wales Anglesey has continued to raise funds for the Wales Air Ambulance as part of the charity being its Charity of the Year.

Recently they held two farmhouse breakfast events; one at Caergeiliog Foundation School, which raised £600 and another at Llangefni Rugby Club which saw £1,000 being collected for the charity.

The Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW) annual farmhouse breakfast week raised an incredible £17,509 for the Wales Air Ambulance Charity.

The hugely popular fundraiser saw members of FUW hold over 35 breakfast events last month. Members and politicians were treated to a delicious, nutritious and sustainable breakfast, whilst catching up on farming matters with FUW staff and officials.

This fundraising follows on from FUW Anglesey presenting the Wales Air Ambulance with £300 that was raised during The Anglesey Agricultural Show.

The Anglesey branch invited Wales Air Ambulance’s community fundraiser, Alwyn Jones along to their AGM meeting to give a talk.

Alwyn happily provided a short presentation on the essential work the Wales Air Ambulance does for the people of Wales.

Alys Roberts, Deputy County Executive Officer and Agri-Environment Advisor said: “We all agree the Wales Air Ambulance is a very important lifesaving charity. The service is extremely important for the people of Wales which offers advanced air ambulances and critical care responses. We all know of an individual who has used this charity in a crisis. We thank all of the staff for the work they do every day to save lives.”

Alwyn Jones Wales Air Ambulance’s Community Fundraiser said: “Thank you very much to the president of FUW for picking our charity to be its Charity of the Year. It was lovely to meet the members of the Anglesey branch during their AGM and to thank them personally for their support throughout the year.

“Our lifesaving service needs to raise £11.2 million every year to keep our helicopters in the air and our rapid response vehicles on the road, this donation will help us to be there for the people of Wales when they need us mostly. Diolch yn fawr.”

Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and, if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury. For the patient, this can mean hours saved when compared to standard care and is proven to greatly improve survival and early recovery.

It is delivered via a unique Third Sector and Public Sector partnership. The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.
