Once you have decided how you want to raise money for Wales Air Ambulance, we want to be able to help in any way we can, by giving you resources and advice which will help to make your event the fundraising triumph it deserves to be.

We have put some steps together to help you on your way:

Step 1 - Collection donations or sponsorship:

One of the first things you will want to decide is how you want to collect sponsorship. Here are a couple of ideas:

Sponsor form

How about the trusty sponsor form? It includes a Gift Aid option. This allows charities to claim 25p for every £1 that you donate.

JustGiving

Setting up a JustGiving page is the quickest and easiest way to let people know you’re raising money. Visit https://www.justgiving.com/waa and follow the instructions to set up your own fundraising page.

Text-to-donate

Another option JustGiving offers is a personalised JustTextGiving code, this means that anyone can sponsor you by simply sending a text. It’s great for on-the-go donations.

Facebook

Do you love using social media? Facebook have now made fundraising through your own page simple and easy. All you need to do is choose follow this link https://www.facebook.com/fundraisers/, share your story and enter a fundraising goal - then just watch the money come in.

Step 2 - Publicising your event

The more people that know about your event, the more donations you are likely to receive. By promoting your event you are much more likely to maximise your donations.

Share your fundraiser

Remind your friends of what you are doing and why through your social media channels.

Update everywhere

Everyone has a different method of communicating, use this to your advantage; email, text, or update your social media, and keep in touch with your supporters.

Keep saying thank you

Always say thank you whatever the donation, whether it be the purchase of a ticket or a raffle prize, always show your appreciation.

Step 3 - Staying safe and keeping it legal

Raffles

Raffles are a great way to raise money but it is important to be aware of the legalisties and whether you'll need a license for your event. For more information and advice, visit www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk, and talk to your community fundraiser.

Holding a raffle is a great way to drum up funds but it’s important to be aware of the legalities and whether you’ll need a license for your event. You can check the latest information and advice at www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk, and talk to your community fundraiser.

Insurance and licenses

Please remember that although we’re here to help you organise and plan, you are responsible for your activity or event and Wales Air Ambulance is unable to accept liability. We also recommend that you ask your local authority whether or not you need to obtain any special licences for your event.

You can also check out events information from Fundraising Regulator and guidance for in aid of volunteers from the Institute of Fundraising.

Food hygiene

Whether you’re selling cupcakes or putting on a spread, food safety laws will apply. Check in with the Food Standards Agency at www.food.gov.uk for more information, just to be safe.

Collecting money

Remember - if you’re planning on carrying out public street collections, you’ll need a license. We also recommend that when you count the money you’ve collected, you do so with another person present. You can check out The Institute of Fundraising for more information.
