What are the different types of gifts I can leave a charity? Expand There are three main ways to leave a legacy to a charity A specific legacy, which is a particular item left to the charity such as a piece of jewellery. A residuary legacy is what remains once all gifts have been handed out. You can leave a share of what is left or the whole amount left. A pecuniary legacy is when you leave a set amount of money.
Should I update my Will? Expand It is very important to remember when making your Will that it may need to be changed later on due to circumstances. For example, if you get a divorce, lose a loved one, or decide to start a family you may wish to change the information provided in your will. To amend your Will, you will need to add a codicil which has been witnessed when signed.
Why should I write a Will? Expand If you decide not to leave a Will, the government will decide how your estate is divided. Whereas by creating a Will you provide your family and friends with your exact wishes on how you wish your estate to be distributed.
Will volunteering affect my benefits? Expand For many people volunteering is a great way to learn new skills and experience or wish to add to your CV, especially if you are looking for employment. Volunteering will not affect your Jobseeker's Allowance as long as you are looking for work.
Will I need a Disclosure and Barring Service Check? Expand Some volunteering roles may require a DBS check.
Will I be reimbursed for expenses? Expand Our volunteers are unpaid; however, we will reimburse our volunteers for travel and subsistence expenses as detailed in the volunteering policy.
Will I receive training? Expand You will be provided with an induction and training programme for your role and you will be invited to attend a Corporate Induction which may include a visit to one of our airbases.
How much time do I need to give? Expand That is completely your choice. Whether you wish to do one hour a week at an event, or twenty hours a week in one of our charity shops we are grateful for any help you can give. We will do our best to make it enjoyable and rewarding.
How old do I need to be to become a volunteer? Expand In order to become a volunteer with us, you must be a minimum age of 18 years old.
Do I need experience? Expand Each role has a specific role outline which details the skills and experience needed. Whether you have experience or not we always aim to find a volunteer role that is right for you. As long as you're enthusiastic, and have a willingness to support us we would love to have you on board.

How do I cancel my declaration? Expand All you need to do is let us know that you are no longer a UK taxpayer by calling us or writing to us and we will stop reclaiming tax on your donations immediately.
What if I give through Gift Aid to other charities? Expand That is great, any donation you make can be Gift Aided if you are a UK taxpayer. As long as you tick the Gift Aid declaration for each charity and ensure that you pay enough tax to cover them - If you are unsure call feel free to call 0300 0152 999.
Do I have to make a declaration for every donation? Expand No, once your form has been completed and returned you won't have to do another one for us. However if your tax status changes please let us know by calling 0300 0152 999.
Am I committing myself to donate every month? Expand No, by signing a Gift Aid form you do not need to give every month, but should you choose to make a donation in the future you will be covered by the declaration.
Are there any hidden charges? Expand There are no hidden charges. Gift Aid is taken from tax you have already paid, so there is no charge to you, neither does it affect your tax status.
