Tuesday 7 April 2020

It’s fair to say we have not experienced anything like the current Coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions placed upon us. It’s important, now more than ever, to look after our physical and mental wellbeing.

There is no better way to do this than by taking part in our ‘Walk Wales’ challenge, which can be completed in the home, the garden, on a treadmill, taking the dog for a walk or going up and down the stairs.

The Challenge

The Walk Wales challenge allows you, the ‘walker, a chance to set yourself a target based on the number of steps you could achieve over a one-month period

There are 4 challenges to choose from:

  • 105,000 steps/52* miles - Hay on Wye to Powis Castle (Mid Wales)

  • 70,000 steps/35* miles - Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal (South Wales)

  • 32,000 steps/15* miles - Gower to Penlle’r Castle (South Wales)

  • 19,000 steps/9* miles - The Llanberis Path route of Snowdon (North Wales)

*Approximate miles

The challenge must be completed between Monday 20 April and Thursday 21 May.

How to Enter

Entry is a minimum of £5 and you are encouraged to raise sponsorship through JustGiving

We will not require you to log your steps/miles, you’ll just have to confirm them at the end of the month.

Every participant receives a certificate for their efforts.

Please note: Government guidance in relation to the Coronavirus should be followed while undertaking this challenge.

Why Take Part

As Wales battles the Coronavirus pandemic, our Charity has a big part to play in the medical response and it is your incredible generosity that keeps our helicopters flying.

Many of the ways that you raise funds for us are through face-to-face public events or by supporting our shops. Quite rightly, events have been cancelled and our shops have closed as we all play our part to protect society.

However, it does mean that we will see a significant decrease in the money that we can raise to maintain our lifesaving service.

By taking part in our ‘Walk Wales’ challenge, not only will you be maintaining your physical and mental wellbeing but you will also be supporting the continuation of the Wales Air Ambulance during this difficult time.

If this sounds like something you’d like to do, put on your walking shoes or slippers and ‘Walk Wales’.
