Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club has raised an incredible £11,400 for the Wales Air Ambulance during a decade of fundraising.

Representatives from the Wales Air Ambulance were delighted to attend a cheque presentation evening at Haverfordwest Golf Club where they were presented with the latest donation of a cheque of £1,500.

The money for the all-Wales lifesaving charity was raised at the club’s successful annual show held at Carew Airfield in the summer.

The show, which has been running since 1983 and is one of the largest in Wales, featured cars, motorbikes, tractors and many other exciting exhibits. The family friendly event attracted people of all ages and included something for everyone, such as craft stalls, children’s amusements and refreshments.

As well as the Wales Air Ambulance the other charities that benefitted from the successful fundraising this year were Pembrokeshire Food Bank, Paul Satori and Wings Over Carew. These charities were chosen by club members for the year.

The Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.

It is delivered via a unique third sector and public sector partnership. The Wales Air Ambulance Charity relies on public donations to raise the £13 million required every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.

The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.

This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.

As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.

Mike May, the Charity’s Regional Fundraising Manager for South West Wales, attended the presentation evening along with Wales Air Ambulance volunteers Patrick Jones and Rhys Watkins.

A grateful Mike said: “The Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club has done a fantastic job in raising funds for different causes each year.

“Thank you for your very generous donations, over the ten years. You should all be extremely proud to have raised £11,400 for the Wales Air Ambulance. We rely on fundraising events, like these ones, to help keep our helicopters in the air and our rapid response vehicles on the road.

“We were delighted to be one of its chosen charities this year and we received an incredible £1,500 from their fundraising. Also a huge thank you to the members for their hospitality during the presentation evening.”
