Richard Axon 1. How long have you worked with Wales Air Ambulance? I started in 2016 at Dafen airbase. I am now back after a period in Cardiff base and a period of touring 2. Have you always wanted to be a pilot? Yes, but it took a long time to get qualified and experienced enough to work on HEMS 3. What does it mean to you to fly for WAA? I am very proud to be at home in Wales. Wales is a great place to fly. I feel blessed to be able to support and make a real difference to the community. 4. If you weren't a pilot, what would you be? I can’t really imagine not flying any more, but my background is in engineering, so I would probably go back to that. 5. When and where did you do your training? I learned to fly in my late 20’s in NZ, UK and The USA.
