David grew up in London and qualified in Newcastle. He trained in Newcastle, Nottingham and Bristol. In addition, he did two overseas periods in Australia and military deployments in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. He has been a consultant in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia since 2001 and Clinical Director of the Severn Trauma Network since 2011. His pre-hospital work has been mainly at London’s Air Ambulance where he first worked in 1997 and has been a consultant, research lead and trustee for many years. He is Hon. Professor at the University of Bristol and Queen Mary University of London as well as Visiting Professor at the University of Stavanger. He is immediate past Chair of the Intercollegiate Board for Training in Pre-hospital Emergency medicine and current Chairman of the Faculty of Pre-hospital Care of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
