A selfless Powys grandmother celebrated her 100^th birthday by asking friends and family to raise money for Wales’ lifesaving helicopter charity.

Lora Pugh, from Llanidloes, has raised £1,050 for the Wales Air Ambulance after receiving generous donations from friends and family.

This is not the first time the kind-hearted lady has asked for donations for the charity instead of gifts. Mrs Pugh also donated money to the charity when it was her 90^th birthday.

The whole family have been keen supporters of the Wales Air Ambulance and have shown their generosity towards the Charity for many years.

Mark Stevens, Wales Air Ambulance Fundraising Manager, said: “Happy 100^th birthday to Mrs Pugh. It is lovely to hear stories like this, especially during these difficult times. A huge thank you to everyone who donated to celebrate her 100th birthday milestone. The money raised will help to keep our 24/7 lifesaving service up and running.”

Wales Air Ambulance is due to celebrate its 20th anniversary on March 1. In December, the Charity made its vision to become a 24/7 service a reality. Wales Air Ambulance would not be where it is today without the people of Wales and their incredible generosity. To keep the helicopters flying 24/7, the Charity needs to raise £8 million a year.
