Hooton’s Homegrown Farm Shop has created a labyrinth which will help raise money for a lifesaving helicopter charity.

The labyrinth in Anglesey, which is constructed from recycled strawberry growbags, is a fun way that people of all ages can enjoy being out in the fresh air, whilst keeping to government guidelines.

Unlike a maze - in this labyrinth - you cannot get lost! You just let the path take you the 900 metres to the middle.

Reflecting on why the Charity was chosen, James Hooton said: “We decided to try and raise some money for the Wales Air Ambulance as we know how important the service is especially to farmers.

“I have created a labyrinth on our ‘Pick Your Own’ as an additional activity for our customers. People of all ages really enjoy walking our labyrinth. It is a great way to relax and, of course, get some exercise.”

Hooton’s has set themselves the fundraising target of £1,000 which will be split between the Wales Air Ambulance and themselves – so that they can maintain the labyrinth.

If people enjoy the labyrinth, which has stunning views of Snowdonia, Hooton’s Homegrown are asking if they can pay £2 for adults and £1 for children at the ‘Pick Your Own’ pay kiosk.

Lynne Garlick, the Wales Air Ambulance North Wales Fundraising Manager, said: “Thank you to Hooton’s Homegrown who have decided to fundraise for us during these difficult times. We hope everyone enjoys the labyrinth, as well as the views, whilst raising vital funds for our charity and the continued upkeep of the labyrinth.”

The labyrinth, which is great for meditation and mindfulness, is based on the famous French Chartres Labyrinth.

Hooton’s Homegrown would like to remind visitors to remain 2 metres apart and not to move any growbags.

At Hooton’s, they grow their own fruit and vegetables and rear their own livestock. Everything is carefully prepared on-site and the fresh produce is then sold in their farm shops, and as mouth-watering dishes in its café.
