A courageous mum who lost a son in a fire in January is going to do a skydive for the medics who helped save the life of her other son.

Erin Harvey is from Pontrhydfendigaid in Ceredigion. Her son Zac, 3, lost his life after the caravan he was staying in with his brother Harley and father Shaun caught fire.

Harley, 5, survived the accident but was left in a critical condition with 40 per cent burns. His remarkable recovery has spurred his mother, Erin, on to take ‘the leap’ to say thank you and raise funds for the Wales Air Ambulance.

The Charity, which runs the Children’s Wales Air Ambulance, transferred little Harley from Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth to Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Brave mum Erin, who also has an older son Alex, 10, said: “Harley beat all the odds and is thriving today. I really want to give something back. So, I'm taking the leap! We cannot thank all of the amazing services and teams that have been involved in Harley's care. He is doing really well.

“So, we’re starting with the Wales Air Ambulance. The work they do is incredible. We would be so grateful for any donations. Thank you all for your continued support.”

The heartbreak of losing her youngest child Zac will remain with the family forever and they miss him daily.

Speaking about jumping from a plane, Erin said: “I’m really excited, especially as I have never been in an aeroplane before. Alex is nervous about me doing the skydive, but Harley is very excited.”

The proud boys will watch their mum take part in the skydive on Sunday, August 30^th in Haverfordwest. The family have already raised £465 out of their £500 target for the helicopter charity.

Mark Stevens, the Charity’s South Wales Fundraising Manager, said: “It is impossible to imagine the pain and sadness that the family must be going through. From such a tragic incident, Erin has decided to raise money to help others who find themselves in medical need. This is truly awe-inspiring and shows incredible resilience.

“We wish young Harley well with his recovery and thank Erin for her generosity and inspiration.”
