A Gwynedd camping and holiday park has donated over £2,000 to Wales Air Ambulance in order to help keep the helicopters flying.

 

Cae Clyd Camping of Pontllyfni near Caernarfon donated £2,294 to the helicopter charity following a recent fun day festival held at the site.

 

The one-day festival which proved a hit locally offered a holidaymakers the chance to enjoy a last taste of Welsh summer before the changing of the seasons.

 

Wales Air Ambulance community coordinator Alwyn Jones said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the campsite owners Mr and Mrs Arwel and Eleri Hughes for choosing to support our charity. Each year we rely solely on the kindness of the Welsh public to enable us to reach the yearly target of £6.5 million.

 

“North Wales remains a popular tourism destination with summer still proving to be one of the busiest seasons. Our Caernarfon-based aircraft (Helimed 61) is familiar site in the skies to many across the area. Having specialist air support with on board ‘Welsh Flying Medics’ is peace of mind not just for the residents but also visiting tourists who are taking in the best of our beautiful country.
