The pilots and engineers, who are employed by Babcock Mission Critical Services Onshore, work with the Charity’s four helicopters based across Wales. They scooped the Babcock Aviation Health and Safety Customer Engagement Award after being nominated by the Charity for their overwhelming commitment and dedication to safe operations at all times.

Pilot, Captain James Grenfell, said: “Being nominated by Wales Air Ambulance for this award means a lot. It shows we are delivering the quality and level of service they need to help them save lives and support communities across Wales. Bringing the award home was the icing on the cake.”

Wales Air Ambulance has an important partnership with aviation company Babcock who supply the aircraft, pilots and engineers to the Charity to enable them to fly lifesaving missions all over Wales.

Already, the partnership has seen the introduction of brand new advanced H145 helicopters at Dafen, Welshpool and Caernarfon, in addition to the launch of the Charity’s fourth aircraft at Cardiff Heliport – the Children’s Wales Air Ambulance.

Wales Air Ambulance Chief Executive Officer, Angela Hughes, said: “We are proud of our pilots and engineers and the way they work as a team with everyone in the Charity, from medics to ground staff. Together we are a high-performing team, and this is a richly deserved award.”

James added: “We work together as a team really well and each member of the crew knows that safety is always the top priority.”
