The Wales Air Ambulance (WAA) Charity is opening up its unique North Wales conference facilities to businesses and organisations, a move that will create more fundraising potential in support of its lifesaving work.

WAA is inviting local businesses to an Open Day at Caernarfon Airport, where its North Wales operation is based, on Wednesday 20 February 2019 between 10am – 12pm, and 1pm – 3pm. During the Open Day, the Charity will showcase its facilities for meetings and events, which includes a large room, smaller side rooms, and TV and video conferencing facilities.

The location also has catering capability through its onsite café, Caffi HEMS. It was recently named best enterprise café in North Wales by SME News and is regularly praised for its quality homemade food using Welsh produce.

All profits made through the conference and meeting facilities will go towards the lifesaving work of the Wales Air Ambulance, which needs to raise £6.5 million every year to keep the helicopters flying.

Lynne Garlick, WAA North Wales Fundraising Manager, said: “Not many conference and event venues can boast such a unique location. We are based at a rural airport, from where one of our Wales Air Ambulance helicopters operates. It is also on the beautiful Dinas Dinlle coastline, ideal for taking a break and clearing the mind in between meetings.

“As well as offering room space, buffets can also be arranged from our award-winning café. This ranges from simple coffee, tea and biscuits, to sandwich spreads complete with fruit and cake.

“Every single penny that we make from room hire and catering will go towards the Charity. In addition to gaining access to our facilities, people can enjoy a sense of satisfaction knowing that their contributions with help save lives.”

Anybody interested in attending the Open Day should register with the Charity by Monday 18 February via email [email protected] or by calling 01286 875050. More information about the room hire and catering options can be found via www.walesairambulance.com/room-hire-at-caernarfon-airport.

WAA was launched on St. David’s Day in 2001. From humble beginnings as a one-helicopter service, it has grown into the UK’s largest air ambulance operation that can be anywhere in Wales within twenty minutes. WAA now runs four aircraft with bases in Welshpool, Caernarfon, Llanelli and Cardiff. It is the only air ambulance charity based in, and dedicated to, Wales.

The service is now one of the most advanced in Europe. A unique Third Sector-Public Sector partnership between WAA and NHS Wales has resulted in the creation of the consultant-led Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS Cymru), more commonly known as the ‘Welsh Flying Medics’. WAA now provides pioneering pre-hospital critical and emergency medical care across Wales – taking the emergency room to the patient.
