A team of ex-servicemen have raised over £6,000 for Wales Air Ambulance after a continuous 24-hour Snowdon challenge.

Paul Jones, Stephen Robinson, Martin Topps, and Wales Air Ambulance Critical Care Practitioner Carl Hudson embarked on the challenge during the peak of Welsh summer.

Prior to the event, a special fundraising event was held at the Rhosneigr Golf Club which included an auction and a day on the green.

Speaking about the challenge, CCP Carl Hudson said: “This challenge was the perfect way for us to match our love of walking with our passion to raise money for the Charity. One trip up and down Snowdon is enough for even the slightly seasoned walker, tackling it as many times as possible in 24 hours was a real feat of fitness for us all.

“We’re incredibly proud to have completed the challenge raising both money and awareness of Wales Air Ambulance. Being a medic working on Helimed61 at Caernarfon I frequently attend patients who are taken seriously unwell in the remote corners of the national park so I can fully appreciate how the money we have raised will help us to continue saving lives”.

After a successful fundraiser at the golf course and completing the challenge, a whopping £6,146.40 was raised for the helicopter Charity.

Wales Air Ambulance community coordinator Sian Davies said: “We are so proud of what the four gents have achieved, their generosity really knows no bounds. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the President of Rhosneigr Golf Club, Dr Pauline Rigby who gave our supporters a very warm welcome during the fundraising event.

“With each mission costing on average £1,500, this incredible amount of money will ensure we can continue to be there for the people of Wales when they need us most.”
