A North Wales Festival has donated £5,000 to Wales Air Ambulance after nominating them as their charity of the year.

The Gwyl Fai which is now in its 23rd year is synonymous in the Nantlle Valley Gwynedd for raising thousands of pounds for various charities.

2018 is no exception with the hardworking committee choosing Wales Air Ambulance as their beneficiary.

Chairman of the Gwyl Fai Committee Lloyd Williams said: “The simple target of the committee is to give local people fun and enjoyment in events organised to raise money for charity. We decided that Wales Air Ambulance was very deserving of our nomination as they are a charity purely for the people of Wales.”

Wales Air Ambulance Community fundraising coordinator Alwyn Jones said: “We would like to say a very big thank you not only the Gwyl Fai committee but also the local community for supporting us. Each year we need to raise £6.5 million to keep our four helicopters flying. This extremely generous donation of £5,000 will ensure we are able to continue our lifesaving work.”
