Wales Air Ambulance is delighted to have received with a charitable donation of £1,000 from the members of Gwaun Lodge of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes.

The brothers of Gwaun Lodge presented the cheque to Eunice O’Hara from the Wales Air Ambulance at the Phoenix Centre in Goodwick.

The charity was one of many other charities, including Paul Sartori, that benefitted from recent donations.

A spokesperson for Gawun Lodge said: “The Gwaun Lodge has weathered the tribulations of the last year and is more determined than ever to continue with the contributions to the community. As testament of their ongoing endeavours, we’ve selected the Wales Air Ambulance as a current receipt of funds.”

Wales Air Ambulance offers advanced critical care and is often described as a ‘Flying ED’. The on-board consultants and critical care practitioners are highly skilled and carry some of the most pioneering medical equipment in the world. They can deliver blood transfusions, administer anaesthesia and undertake emergency operations at the scene of the incident, before flying the patient directly to specialist care.

Wales Air Ambulance has four aircraft based across Wales, in Dafen, Caernarfon, Welshpool and Cardiff.

Now operational 24/7, the Charity needs to raise £8 million every year to keep the helicopters flying.

Katie Macro, Wales Air Ambulance Campaigns Manager, said: “A huge thank you to Gwaun Lodge, the donation of £1,000 is much appreciated. We regularly attended life and limb-threatening emergencies in Pembrokeshire. Donations like this are vital and we know how important our service is, particularly for rural areas. By keeping our helicopters in the air we can continue to take the emergency department to the patient, saving time and saving lives.”

The brothers of Gawun Lodge are very keen to recruit new members, their spokesperson said: “Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you like to give back to the community, and or would simply like to be part of sociable friendly benevolent organisation.”

The Gwaun Lodge meets at the Phoenix Community Centre in Goodwick every Tuesday at 7:30pm.
