£1,243 was raised for the Wales Air Ambulance service at a successful Christmas concert in St Mary’s Church, Caernarfon on 7 December where carols were sung by four of the town’s choirs: Côr Dre, Côr Cofnod, CôrNarfon and Côr Meibion Caernarfon.

The town’s choirs take it in turn to organise this annual event and it was coordinated by Côr Meibion Caernarfon on this occasion. All four choirs agreed that the proceeds should go to the Wales Air Ambulance Service.

On Tuesday 8 January, Alwyn Jones, Gwynedd Community Co-ordinator for the Wales Air Ambulance Service, came to the Côr Meibion Caernarfon’s first rehearsal of the new year to receive the donation.

He said, “I thank all four choirs for their generosity. The huge sum of £1,243 was raised - an important and much-appreciated contribution towards the £6.5 million we need to collect annually to keep our four helicopters flying throughout Wales.”

He added, “The packed audience at St Mary’s Church enjoyed inspiring performances of Christmas carols by all four choirs.”

Said Côr Meibion Caernarfon Chairman, Alwynne T Jones, “This annual carol concert puts us all in the Christmas spirit. This time, it was a chance to say thanks to everyone associated with the magnificent red helicopters which have saved so many lives.”
