A Carmarthenshire micro music festival is being arranged by a Welsh flying medic.

Dr Dindi Gill, a Critical Care Doctor on board Wales Air Ambulance, is the brains behind the Robot Monkey micro-festival which will take place on June 30th near Llandeilo.

The festival is set to encompass an eclectic mix of various music genres from disco to funk and house to techno with all proceeds donated to the helicopter charity.

Away from his medical work with Wales Air Ambulance and Morriston Hospital, Dindi is a keen producer and performer of electronic music who has held various events across Wales along with his group Robot Monkey, consisting of a live percussionist and vocalists.

Dindi said: “The idea of this micro-festival is to build the whole day around different genres of electronic music and take people on a musical journey. We are also supporting local Welsh artists through the event and hope to showcase how much talent is out there.”

The event is organised in collaboration with Dr Rhys Thomas who together with Dr Gill led the successful establishment of the Welsh Flying Medics team which flies on board Wales Air Ambulance. Their successful event in aid of the charity last year inspired them to make this year’s event bigger and better.

Dindi added: “The event will kindly be held on Rhys’ land and we are hoping it will be much more than just a music event. We have lots planned to include dancers, live acts and locally sourced food and drinks.”

Wales Air Ambulance is a cause that is very close to mine and Rhys’ hearts and we hope that people will come down, soak up the atmosphere, have a great time and help us raise money for this incredible charity.”

The event, which will be held during the usual Glastonbury weekend (which is taking a break this year), is set to attract music lovers of all ages and from a variety of walks of life.

Wales Air Ambulance fundraising manager Mark Stevens said: “This event is a great opportunity to not only raise money for Wales Air Ambulance but also to showcase a wide variety of music.

We would like to thank Dindi and Rhys for arranging this in aid of the Charity and we hope everyone enjoys what is promising to be a very entertaining event.”

The over 18’s event will be held near Llandeilo, SA19 7HY on Saturday June 30th from 3pm. Tickets are priced at £25 and include a two-course meal and free camping.
