What we do News All News DUSK TO DAWN SNOWDON 10 CHALLENGE 29th July 2018 A keen climber from Gwynedd is set to tackle Wales’ tallest peak ten times in one day. Christopher Dineen who lives on the Llyn Peninsula has decided to rise to the challenge in aid of Wales Air Ambulance. Talking about the enormity of the task Christopher said: “I have had a passion for climbing for some time, but this challenge is my biggest to date. In 1999 I moved to the beautiful Llyn Peninsula and instantly fell in love with picturesque North Wales landscape. I first climbed the Cnicht peak 14 years ago and since then I have been hooked.” “I have tackled many different climbs from the very popular three peaks to even scaling Kilimanjaro two years ago. I find it’s great for both physical and mental fitness.” Christopher aims to tackle the challenge; which will total 45 miles and nearly 19,000 ft of ascent on Saturday, July 7. Christopher added: “I have been training most weekends and the route is not unfamiliar to me. I remember dreaming up the slightly crazy idea of walking all ten routes of Snowdon in 24 hours, and now with less than a fortnight to go, the realisation is beginning to set in.” Christopher’s arduous task will begin in the small hours of Saturday, July 7 on the Llanberis path with ten separate routes ahead, before reaching the finish line near the Youth Hostel on the Snowdon Ranger path. Wales Air Ambulance Fundraising Manager Lynne Garlick said: “We would like to wish Christopher all the very best with his challenge. It’s certainly no mean feat and with Christopher attempting it during mini Welsh heatwave we certainly hope he is carrying plenty of water for the journey.” Christopher added: “I have decided to support Wales Air Ambulance as they provide a crucial service which is supported totally by the public. I know the challenge is going to push me to my physical and mental limits, but It gives me a great sense of pride to raise money for such a worthy cause.
