A children’s fitness challenge is helping Wales Air Ambulance to complete their missions helping children and babies across Wales.

The third annual Darth Minion challenge is being held on July 1, encouraging kids to put on their trainers in aid of the Children’s Wales Air Ambulance; a specialist division of Wales Air Ambulance’s services to provide the charity’s youngest patients the different range of treatments they need.

The Darth Minion race is held by the Darth Coastal Runners on the Gower, who are long-term supporters of WAA – hosting the Beach and Swamp Run and the Marathon De Gwyr in aid of the welsh helicopter charity.

Darth Minion brings together children form across South Wales, for a day of activities and games suitable for children of all ages, including a 1.5k to 4k run with obstacles on the idyllic Gower coastline.

Last year, the race raised £600 for Wales Air Ambulance, and so far this year the Darth Coastal Runners have raised over £25,000 through their various challenges.

Mark Stevens, Wales Air Ambulance Fundraising Manager, said: “The Darth Coastal Runners are huge supporters of Wales Air Ambulance, funding several of our missions across Wales every year.

“The Darth Minion event gets children involved in fitness challenges, as well as lifesaving donations for Children’s Wales Air Ambulance, which will help rescue sick babies and children across the country.

“An important part of our job is to operate the Children’s Wales Air Ambulance, a specialist division of Wales Air Ambulance because our youngest patients need a different range of treatments.

“The last Darth Minion raised £600, which is an outstanding amount.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to the Darth Coastal Runners for their support, and we look forward to cheering on the Darth Minions on the day!”
