The Dragon Award Marketing Consortium has presented Wales Air Ambulance with a magnificent donation of £15,000.
The consortium, which was formed in 1976, has recently decided to disband and the current members unanimously decided to donate their remaining funds to the air ambulance charity.
The aim of the consortium when it was founded was to establish an award for holiday parks that would only be presented to those parks that clearly exhibited the highest possible quality.
Not only did the caravans have to be built to exacting design standards, but also the parks on which they were located had to meet high standards in the grading criteria of the British Holiday Parks Association.
Inspections of the parks were carried out by the Wales Tourist Board, as well as the consortium. As a result of this work, and marketing campaigns undertaken by the consortium, prospective holiday makers could easily identify parks holding the Dragon Award as offering the finest caravans and standard of facilities.
At its peak, over 50 parks throughout Wales were members of the consortium and saw their businesses flourish.
Mike Ashbridge from Wales Air Ambulance thanked all members of the Dragon Award Consortium for the tremendous donation.
He said: “Donations of this scale are incredibly important to us and make a lasting and significant contribution to our emergency work. Everyone at Wales Air Ambulance thanks the consortium members and wishes them and their businesses every success in the future.”
